Orthodox Christian Philanthropy
Orthodox Christians may assist the work of our Church by making tax-deductible contributions to the various Funds that have been established by our Church, both in the United States and in Canada. Special gifts donations, gift annuities, trusts, memorials, endowments, bequests, grants and other contributions made to these funds will assist needy individuals, help support small missionary parishes, cover travel expenses for clergy traveling to these parishes, provide funds for the publication of instructional books, periodicals and catechetical materials, and grant financial assistance to needy and worthy candidates for ordination, and help them obtain educational and liturgical materials in their training for the priesthood.
Almsgiving is blessed, for through it, as the Holy Scriptures say, we made God our debtor:
"He that hath pity upon the poor lendeth unto the Lord; and that which he hath given will He repay him again." (Prov. 19:17)
Through contributions to these Funds, we continue our Saviourís redemptive work in this world: showing compassion to our brethren in bodily and spiritual need by spreading the Apostolic word and the work of Christís Gospel.
