Guatemala

In the hills but within the city limits of Guatemala City, Guatemala is Saint Xenia Orthodox Mission Church (Iglesia Ortodoxa Tradicional Santa Xenia).

Currently the parish does not have a Priest but is served by Bishop Demetrius from the Holy Orthodox Metropolis of Boston. Father Deacon Cyril is a native Guatemalan and attends to the needs of the parish, which has approximately fourteen family units (married and single members). Baptisms are scheduled with each of Bishop Demetrius’ semi-annual visits. The parish is growing steadily. Glory be to God!

The chapel has running water and electricity but construction to finish the interior continues. Victor M. from St. Cosmas of Aitolia Orthodox Church in Maryland traveled with the Bishop in April, 2009 and is staying there for a year to help finish the construction and assist Fr. Cyril with the Services.
